There can be some merit in the gap year, and it needn’t involve building schools or wells — if you don’t want it to. The year is an almost-unique opportunity to travel somewhere you’ve always wanted to visit, and do things you’ve always wanted to do.

As the end your schooling career comes skidding into view, you may or may not have decided to take one.

It’s not too late if you’ve changed your mind about going to university – you can always defer for a year if you want to.
